Kathleen Hirce

Katie came to MARC following a year-long fellowship with the Media Law Resource Center, a not-for-profit corporation in New York, where her work primarily involved research and writing in the areas of First Amendment protection of the media, defamation, reporter's privilege, and news gathering access. Upon her graduation from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2005, Katie served as a law clerk to the Hon. Dorothea O'C. Wefing, P.J.A.D., of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division, where she was exposed to all aspects of litigation. Her practice includes commercial litigation and employment law with a primary focus on media and First Amendment law.

Katie received her B.A. from Bryn Mawr College in 1998 and her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2005. While at Seton Hall, Katie was a member of the Seton Hall Circuit Review, for which she authored a comment on the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, A Swift & Temporary Instruction: The Effectiveness of the Circuit Courts Between Blakely & Booker, 2 Seton Hall Cir. Rev. 271 (2005).

Prior to attending law school, Katie worked for four years as a magazine reporter and editor in Manhattan. She is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York.
